Calligraphy Lessons
Learning Japanese Traditional Culture
Having lived in France for nearly 20 years, I have continued teaching calligraphy since my arrival. Although the location, format, and group of students have changed over time, I now teach both in person and online.
My current class consists of about 30 experienced students. Even those who were unfamiliar with kanji began with the basics of regular and semi-cursive script, and have now mastered cursive script as well. Sometimes we write phrases or poetry such as haiku.
I truly admire the way my students approach calligraphy as part of their daily lives—using it as a barometer of their health, a source of mental stability, and a means of self-expression. I also learn a great deal from them.
The time we share together has become an irreplaceable treasure.
